And although my tastes have changed--I once hated mixing silver and gold and now I love it--I still have a soft spot for spikes, initials, and all things dainty. Catbird NYC. The prices are totally fair at this Williamsburg-based jewelry store, which features the cutest sterling, 14k yellow and rose gold pieces. Simple thin bands with letters, shapes (hearts, stars, ampersands)are the standout, and a bevy of quirky and vintage pieces are also available. Bonus: they have a pretty legit blog here.

Odette NY. Amazingly interesting geometric and hammered pieces made mostly in Sterling Silver. There are some brass pieces available (not my favorite metal to wear), but word on the ~~street~~ internet is that all the designs will be available in yellow gold very soon. Excellent.

I've never exactly been the girl lacking a wishlist, but for some reason it is always harder in the winter time to pick my favorites. Countless blogs and magazines crank out amazing gift lists and buying guides that always put ideas in my head. So after much thought here is a list of a few things I can't seem to shake. There are a few things I have been eyeing for years (a 14k gold wishbone necklace , silk/cashmere dusty rose scarf), months (detox cleanse, baby spike rings) and a few I need a refill on (perfume, eyeliner, diptyque candle).

Dreading the pure time consuming ridiculousness that it will take to upload and organize all the photos from Paris, at least a days worth of work. Here is one sunny (and rainy) day we headed to the flea market at Porte de Clignancourt. The most beautiful furniture I have ever seen. If I had an unlimited budget--and a way to get it back to the states, and a huge house--it would have all been mine.

This post looks a bit different because I'm experimenting with hosting photos on an external site (again). I used to use photobucket, then image shack, but it turned into such a long process. The the photos turn out so much better though...

I did a shoot a while back for the spring/summer collection of Gypsy Junkies. My dear friend is the head designer, but it's not just beause of that fact that I rave about the line, it is so cute and totally affordable. It's available all over, and Kitson just picked it up in L.A. To make it even better I just got a sneak peak of the autumn/winter collection. Serious swoon. I fell in love with San Francisco all over again last week after me and one of best friends road-tripped it up to the city for a long weekend. Ate amazing food, thrift shopped, ran into one of my favorite bloggers on the street (and had to introduce myself), bonded with some of my SF friends and attended a wild party in the Mission. We were so sad to leave, made worse by the speeding ticket I received on the way home. Sometimes I wish I lived in a more urban city, it would be nice to live without a car and walk to work.

Yes, we all love Sex and the City. Yes, many of us blindly follow the styling of Pat Field and SJP. But I never thought the turban would have me so wrapped up. Sorry, I couldn't resist the pun. I did a little research and it turns out the star of SATC 2--sorry ladies but Carrie's ever-present head gear stole the show--was made especuially for the movie by Gold Saturn, who have yet to produce more (why not?!). With that being said I admit I am dying for a turban a la Koutrney Kardashian (above). My hunt has returned no quality results, so I have a feeling a DIY project is in the near future.

Fall Wish List

Fall is the only season I get excited about. Summer is fun, but hot; winter is cold and rainy; and spring always seems to go by without a mention. But Fall? Fall is fantastic. The hot air finally begins to cool and a brand new fashion-season comes alive. Every fall I have a running list of the items I would love to wear as the days cool. Some items are cheap, some expensive and some get crossed off before the temperatures drop. And then there are the items that seem to make the list every year-think Chanel-without being brought into the Casa de Lexy. But with or without these new items it's nice to know that another season passes and I'm still feeling inspired to do what I do, which is love fashion.

Simplicity Wins

Super simple outfit with my favorite new flats. I've been prancing around in these Gap 'City Flats' and planning a ballerina Halloween for the past few days.

Every year The Gap releases a version of the leather ballet flat and this season I'm totally impressed. Only problem is that you get what you pay for, and for $39 I shouldn't have expect much. They are scuffed, ripping and falling apart after only half a dozen wears. I don't know what is more of a shame, the fact that they are poor quality, or the fact that I am undoubtedly going to buy another pair to destroy.

Getting my favorite hat dirty and looking ridiculous while tossing it at my camera about sums this up. I love that Maddy wanders into some of the shots, and I have a feeling that my photos are becoming a variable 'Where's Waldo' of my puppy. She is such a ham so it really is no surprise.

I'm wearing my favorite vintage shorts, which I rarely wear (unless they are being accompanied by tights or covering up a swimsuit) because I cut them way to short in the back. That's the risk you take when you come at your clothes with big orange-handled scissors. Enjoying having a slight post-Mexico tan still lingering on my skin, almost tempted to try to keep it into fall--need to brain storm ways to make that a reality...

Some Summer Stories

I'm Back. I haven't blogged in ages! So much has happened in my life over these past few weeks and unfortunately the blog has fallen last on the to-do list. I am delighted by all the positive comments I have received on my last few postings, it's nice to know that your peers are actually reading what you're posting. Fantastic.

So on with my life update. The most amazing thing took place a few weeks ago--I was awarded a journalism scholarship for my entire last year of school. It covers all my expenses and tuition and I couldn't be more thrilled or excited. I am looking forward to the fall semester and I just finished my summer internship at a fantastic PR agency here in LA, which was both fun and educational. As I eagerly await finishing school, I can't stop thinking about applying to grad school. How ironic.

I took a super-relaxing trip to Mexico with my boyfriend, which I can't say enough about--the beach, tacos and margaritas, sun and the best guy ever--not too shabby. Despite carefully avoiding water and sketchy food during the trip I still managed get violently ill two days after our return. Not pretty. However, I am thankful I didn't get sick in Mexico during the trip. That would have sucked.

And probably the craziest news is that I adopted a puppy! She is a sweetheart, and fitting into my life better everyday, when I took these pictures she sat beside the camera and patiently watched. She is only three months old and therefore getting into everything! Her favorite place to sniff around is my closet, where I caught her chewing on my Marc Jacobs bag last week. I about died, but I guess I'll refer to the little teeth holes as love marks. Note to self: keep closet door closed.

I am enjoying the summer weather, all except for a few particularly hot weeks here in southern California, where all I could do is crank up the AC and ride it out. Even though it is early summer I just bought this jacket, and I am only slightly obsessed (as seen in these pics). I know, I know, I am a little late on the field jacket trend, but sometimes that's how it goes. I can never buy the first version I see of anything because there is undoubtedly a better version out there. One that fits you nicer, works with your current wardrobe better or is a more desirable fabric.

I always shop fall early, which is good, but then attempt to work the pieces in far too early. I wore the jacket below on the plane to Mexico (and into the hot airport) where my boyfriend kindly alerted me that I was the only one still wearing a jacket. I stubbornly kept it on while waiting in a mile-long, 100 degree customs line where all I was think was "sure I am sweating, but it is my travel outfit." So lame of me. I suppose fall pieces will have to wait.

As far as my cold-weather wardrobe goes, I am hunting for the perfect pair of cream, rough leather or suede ankle boots for day, a structured school bag (like this one) and everything possible in taupe, eggplant, cream and pale pink.

Seeing Tan. Mixed neutrals have been a long-time favorite of mine for winter

dressing--nothing is easier or more fashionable in the freezing cold. Add in a chic

ponytail, riding boots and a little blush and you have the ideal winter look. As winter

winds to an end I vow to get more wear out of my cold weather favorites--then safely

pack them away for the rich and vibrant summer.

Rebecca Taylor Steals My Heart. Sometimes I feel like I can't keep up with fashion--the constant evolution and countless trends and lines that feel so foreign to my aesthetic--but then I see collections that give me that inner motivation to keep on loving clothes. Rebecca Taylor does that for me. A continually beautiful and aw inspiring line that is so perfectly balanced. The feeling that she creates with every piece makes me emotionally transport to a meadow in New Zealand (her homeland) with a picnic lunch, a flower headband and a dozen friends. Because that's what it's all about--putting something on your body that takes you to another mood, place or feeling. How sweet it is.

deciphering denim

Thursday. The summer before last was all about the high waisted bell bottom jean,

and I was in paradise, as they are my absolute favorite. As the season came to an end I

watched as the sexy high waist fell by the wayside. An era of the "boyfriend" jean

took over shortly after, and yes I did participate. And now we're all going crazy for the denim

legging--which I have worn religiously since a trip to Topshop in May left me with three pairs.

But there is something about returning to that one style that felt the most like you. Of course

I still love this style but they are so hard to find now, and the few pairs from that summer are

faded and torn (I seriously need to step up my thrifting efforts). I especially love the pair of

Made in Heaven above-- the wash, the cut, the rise--perfect! The label is straight from

the 1970's and they have left the fits almost exactly the same. I got the chance to meet and

talk with the designer Chloe Lonsdale last summer and she really is the sweetest brit in the

sweetest jeans.

Tuesday. I had a field day blowing my (very much appreciated) holiday cash at a slew of after Christmas sales last week, and I finally bought a new pair of black boots. I have been hunting for a pair of over-the-knee boots since September, and I am so glad I waited until I found a pair I love. It couldn't have come at a better time, as the holes on the back of my everyday pair of boots have been getting increasingly larger in the past few months. I am so ridiculously hard on my shoes--I wear them until they literally fall apart. In the past I've used sharpies and masking tape to fix up a pair of fallen ankle boots--and some have been re-heeled due to extreme wear. I am super particular about my shoes, and I can rarely find a pair that fit properly, so I was thrilled when I found these. I have only made one or two purchases at BCBG Max Azria before this--but I think I'll carry on the tradition. Super comfy and super discounted.

I know I am missing a head in the photo above--but who needs a head when you have a great pair of boots?

2010. I guess it is a good thing when you end up with few solo pictures after a new years eve celebration. Being too busy posing with a wonderful boyfriend and amazing girlfriends is truly a blessing in every way--except for this blog. I'd trade a fun night for an outfit shot any day.

With that being said, I admit I have always struggled with putting photos of others on my blog, I would like too, but I think it turns in into something less personal, and more facebook-ish. So one picture will have to do for today.

I can't believe it is already 2010, it's very sci-fi. One of the reasons I started this blog is for this exact reason. Time flys by so quickly, and it is nice to sit down and create something that will live as a fingerprint of my interests. Having anyone actually read it is incredibly flattering, and is the icing on my favorite gourmet cupcake. It is a way to document my life through pictures and writing, and to reflect on fashion and living in Los Angeles. I have a feeling that 2010 will be a fabulous year, and I can't wait to see what will happen with this blog. I don't have a goal for it in any sense, I'm going to let it turn into what ever works for me.

Regarding my new years eve--the color purple seems to be working it's way into my wardrobe more and more lately, and it has brought a much needed jolt to my regular lineup of neutrals. I am terrribly sick of all my black pencil skirts, and so shorts felt refreshing for nye.

Here is to a fabulous new year!

Thursday. I'm going to blame slow releasing tryptophan and pending 10 page research papers for my lack of posts this past two weeks, and although I have missed blogging, my real excitement comes from finally being able to catch up with all my online buddies (are we buddies if I read your blog? yes!). I hope that everyone's holiday weekend, or, uh, week, was splendid. I was able to do a little black Friday shopping while visiting my family in Arizona, and I picked up this Vera by Vera Wang dress at Kohl's (yes, you read correctly). My Sister and Mother weren't very amused when I dragged them into the packed discount store, but with constant write-ups about the Vera Wang diffusion line in every magazine around (and a huge arizona parking lot) I had to check it out myself. The collection was pretty cute, but the lines were not. I bought a necklace at the jewelry counter and coaxed the checkout girl to ring up my dress as well, a narrow escape of the absurdly long line (am I a Kohl's convert? no, but it was worth the trip).

This week I am back at school and bracing myself for the last push before finals. I was able to escape my apartment last night for delicious Mexican food at Malo (with the obligatory shoot in front of this infamous wall) and a late viewing of The Fantastic Mr. Fox. Once again Wes Anderson has stolen my heart with this wonderfully kooky film. I have been a huge fan since The Royal Tenenbaums, and I was pleasingly surprised with his latest animated romp.

I hope that everyone is loving fall as much as I, and I promise to read all your wonderful posts this week!

Thursday. While visiting my girlfriends in Denver last month I stumbled upon these amazing boots

during an all day shop-a-thon at the Denver outlets. I've never had much faith in outlet shopping but I

was pleasantly surprised. I need to thank one of my girlfriends, who gave me the best piece of advice

about vacation shopping, "No room in your suitcase DOES NOT mean to stop shopping!" Saying yes to

all my new stuff was the easy part, closing my over-stuffed suitcases, not so easy.

Fuzzy. It's no secret I have been on the hunt for a faux-fur vest. But after buying, and returning, two different versions I resigned myself to the fact I wasn't going to find one I liked. I mean, it's hard to feel amazing when you look like a cast member of Where the wild things are.

I happened upon this one at h&m last week, and get this, it was the last one and it was my size. I am enjoying the fur/cable knit combo, cute and cozy without all the bulk. Oh la la I'm getting a warm and fuzzy feeling.

Girl Talk. I had the nicest weekend in Denver visiting my best girlfriends and doing some serious shopping, eating and much needed girl talk.

While hunting for a Denver-friendly coat I discovered "Gap Tall", which features online-only items with longer cuts and sleeves. Genius! I linked my new peacoat above to the website, which is the best coat I have ever bought. It is perfectly cut, warm and soft, and comes in tall, regular and petite. My new boots were also a good buy, but took a good week of uncomfortableness before the leather finally began to give (sorry toes!). They are comfy now, and I'll be living in them all winter.

late summer

Anniversary weekend. My boyfriend and I spent last weekend in Santa Barbara, soaking

up the last few days of summer with wine tasting, riding bikes and good old fashioned

relaxation. I had a mini-meltdown on our last night when I accidentally deleted every

picture from my camera (!!!). I almost made my poor boyfriend recreate every shot, complete

with outfit changes, but I decided it would be too cruel. I frantically snapped these just as we

were heading back to LA. I definitely recommend Santa Barbara for a relaxing and slow-paced

long weekend.

50 degree weather and fluffy white snow. Fall is, by far, my favorite time of year, so you

Tuesday. Just when I think I am over something I am trust back into it like a ton of bricks. I spend the greater part of '04 and '05 wearing as much faux fur as humanly possible, and although it has been a few years since then, I didn't think I'd be lusting so soon. In the past it was a fur trimmed jacket, or a fur bomber with a vintage tee and jeans, but this season will be more polished, and in vest form. Let the hunt begin.

Monday. Planning ahead is not my strongest trait, so potentially hosting a Halloween party with some neighbors (who obviously DO plan ahead) leaves me day-dreaming about the best costume. Alexander Wang RTW 2010. I wasn't sure if Alexander Wang's ready-to-wear collection could top previous seasons, but I was pleasently suprised when I logged onto style.com this morning to check out all the mayhem from NYFW. It is a stark comparison to last years black, white and denim-blue pallate. The heather grey and tan leather is unexpected, while the sexy black is totally Wang. The stripes, the white fluff, the braids and brows, and the khaki trench are all ridiculous! I die.

Friday. Week-long run through: I braved the Barney's warehouse sale in downtown LA, snatched up a DVF bikini, Geren Ford top and J Brand jeans for dirt cheap. Had tequilla overload at Echo Park's Barrigan's, followed by eastside-paradise (aka the gold room). Ate Pho Cafe takeout with my wonderful boyfriend, twice. Hit the gym and got a much-needed facial. Watched the documentary Maxed Out, and vowed to live within my means and never have credit card debt. Continued to scour eBay for rings, rings, rings. Slept. Wrote this post.

One more week of relaxing freedom, what else should I do...
